SkiWelt Going is a real haven of peace. This small ski resort to the east of the SkiWelt is a real insider’s tip. The area around the Astberg is all about slowing down – making it ideal for families and all visitors to appreciate the fine pistes and sunny slopes on offer here, far away from the crowds. And what’s more, the Astberg region provides beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, such as from the Astbergbahn cable car mountain station with its magnificent views of the Wilder Kaiser towards St. Johann and across to the Kitzbüheler Horn and Kitzbühel, complete with the Hahnenkamm ridge and Kitzbühel Alps. Particularly popular with ambitious skiers: the Astberg piste in Going – one of the most beautiful and varied slopes in the SkiWelt with some exciting changes in terrain and a broad steep piste. On the sunny side of the Astberg, skiers can enjoy the broad and medium-steep slopes – even in spring. And those seeking a day of skiing with a genuine challenge can explore the SkiWelt lift by lift, piste by piste via the ‘Kaiser Circuit’ from Going, covering close to 20 km of pistes and over 4000 m of altitude. Ideally the route should be started and finished in Going – but can be accessed from any point on the circuit. Beginners and newbies will enjoy the many easy blue pistes on the Astberg, leading over wide and spacious descents. Ski trails make the difficult stretches easier during the Astberg piste descent into the valley – and make descents in the SkiWelt Going overall easier for less experienced skiers. The large practice area in the valley (Ellmau-Going nursery slope) is ideal for beginners and has its own practice lift. The ski school situated at the valley station offers optimal training for all winter sports fans. The Going ski school offers tailor-made instruction for mini skiers with the Pingu kids’ club (group lessons for children aged 4 – 15 years old) and a maximum of 8 children per class for child-friendly and personal lessons. One of the most beautiful toboggan runs in the SkiWelt is the 4.5 km long Astberg toboggan run. The route leads either to Ellmau (Naschberg – Hotel der Bär) or directly to Going (nursery slope) and is floodlit daily until midnight. Sledges can also be hired from Goingsport at the Astbergbahn valley station.
