Ski Resort Information

Slopes for all levels overlooking Lake Zeller See and a lively après-ski in the Austrian Alps. The domain Zell am See-Kaprun, located in the Salzburg region, offers 138 kilometers of marked pistes for all levels, 42 kilometers of cross-country ski runs and a wide range of activities and winter sports beyond skiing, such as mountaineering or excursions on the frozen lake. In Zell am See-Kaprun beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers can find an area that adapts to their level and rhythm along runs that are characterized by great natural beauty. This renowned ski resort is the result of the union between Zell am See and Kaprun. The domain has excellent tracks for beginners at the top of the Schmittenhöhe summit (2,000m), as well as five famous black runs down to the lake, which are among the best known in the Alps, not so much because of the level of difficulty but rather because of the lake views they offer. The Maiskogel summit (1,730m) is in the centre of the domain, an area surrounded by trees with ideal runs for beginners and, four kilometers away, the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, which reaches 3.203m, with unbeatable snow conditions and multiple blue and red runs ideal for the intermediate skier. Snowboarders can also find their space in the 2,900m snowpark in Kaprun, which has the largest superpipe in Austria, while non-skiers have multiple facilities in the area such as a swimming pool, indoor tennis and squash courts, horse riding, ice-skating, snow rafting as well as the the option to take a panoramic flight above the resort. In addition, Zell am See / Kaprun is easily accessible by public transport as it has a train station in the center of the village, and is only 80km from Salzburg airport and 200km from Munich. At the foot of the resort lies the rustic village of Zell, with an exceptional location by the lake and a beautiful old town, which is worth a visit.
