A sun-drenched plateau with excellent ski lifts, sunny slopes and a south orientation in the Swiss canton of Wallis. The prestigious resort of Crans Montana, located in the Swiss Alps, is one that wows all skiers and snowboarders. In this area of the Rhône valley, there are 41 slopes spread over a ski area of 140 kilometers - with cross-country skiing, snowboarding, halfpipe and off-piste skiing on a varied and rich landscape with glaciers and forest trails. The great variety of slopes, as well as the modernity and speed of its lifts, make this destination a must for skiers and lovers of snowy paradises. This is also one of the largest ski resorts in Switzerland and one of the best rated in terms of its lifts, since almost all are new. Intermediate skiers are the ones who will feel most comfortable because of the number of wide long slopes, all the same level they have at their disposal. The domain is divided into three different interconnected zones. The largest is Cry d'Er, located just above Montana and accessible by cable car, with open slopes at the top and leafy at the bottom. In general, all tracks are of a similar level, easy wide red ones, ideal for most skiers, located between the 1,700 and 2,200m. The Les Violettes area is served by a single ultra-modern and ultra-fast gondola that starts in Les Barzettes (1,500m) and ends in the Glacier Plaine Morte (3,000m). From the glacier, there are short easy descents with excellent snow, as well as an impressive red one, which is 11km long with a 1,500m drop. It is categorised as one of the best in Switzerland. Petit Bonvin, above Aminona, offers long descents of medium to low difficulty. The domain is compact and very well connected with the main nuclei that make up the resort, located at 1,500m: Crans-Montana (main towns), Barzettes and Aminona (holiday and residential areas). Also, the location where the villages are distributed is exceptional. It is a plateau above the Rhone valley that offers majestic views, and is surrounded by a lush forest and lakes. The town of Crans is the most exclusive of all, while Montana is more economical and Aminora is positioned as a satellite between them. The different sectors are perfectly communicated by means of a free bus, which means you do not need to use your car during your stay.
